The case

  • A 30-year-old female patient coped with arrhythmias, such as paroxysmal frequent supraventricular tachycardia, from her early childhood
  • At the age of 9 Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome was found. Epicardial catheter ablation (CA) of accessory atrioventricular pathways was performed
  • Since she was 13-years-old, frequent syncope-associated ventricular extrasystoles were diagnosed
  • When she was 17-years-old, CA of left posterior accessory connections of atrioventricular pathway was performed
  • In order to complete atrioventricular block (AV block), a cardiac pacemaker was implanted.
  • Since the patients' late 20s, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) has slowly dropped to 30%
  • Chronic heart failure New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class III
