Doctor Guido Pieles

Prof. Guido Pieles is a Consultant Adult and Pediatric Sports and Congenital Cardiologist. He is head of Sports Cardiology and Screening at Aspetar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital Doha and Honorary Professor in Sports Cardiology at University College London. After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Marburg, a PhD in Philosophy of Medicine and a Cardiology DPhil at Oxford University, Prof. Guido trained in child and adult congenital, inherited and sports cardiology at the Bristol Heart Institute and the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto. He is chair of the AEPC Sports Cardiology WG and Paediatric liaison officer at the EAPC Sports Cardiology Nucleus. He acted as key Cardiology advisor to UK GOV MHRA and UKHSA during COVID and is member of a MHRA expert committee. He is personal cardiologist to many elite athletes worldwide. Prof. Guido´s passion for research focuses on developing innovative methods to monitor and improve cardiac performance in athletes.
