Biography
Dr. Álvaro Hernáez is post-doctoral fellow in the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) in Barcelona (Spain) and the CIBER of Pathophysiology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN) in Madrid (Spain). He is also lecturer of Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics in the Blanquerna School of Life Sciences (University Ramon Llull, Barcelona, Spain) and the University of Barcelona Institute of LifeLong Learning (IL3-UB, Barcelona, Spain).
He is specialized in the study of emergent cardiovascular risk factors (related to HDL functionality, LDL atherogenicity, thrombosis, and blood cell biology) and their modulation through lifestyle (healthy dietary patterns as the Mediterranean diet, physical activity). He has participated as first/senior author in research articles of the PREDIMED (Prevención con Dieta Mediterránea) Study and the REGICOR (Registre Gironí del Cor) cohort in high impact journals (Circulation, ATVB, Mol Nutr Food Res, Rev Esp Cardiol).
