Professor Luciano Sposato

Dr. Luciano Sposato is a stroke neurologist and clinician-researcher, appointed as Associate Professor with the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), Western University, London, ON, Canada. He is the Head of the LHSC/Western University Stroke Program and holds the Kathleen and Dr. Henry Barnett Chair in Stroke Research. Dr. Sposato is an Associate Scientist at Robarts Institute. Dr. Sposato’s research focuses on the heart and brain connection, including, stroke, atrial fibrillation and dementia; and on stroke epidemiology. This research is unique in its approach since investigates how brain damage affects the heart and vice-versa. He established the Heart & Brain Lab at Western University. He also leads a multidisciplinary and translational research initiative which involves epidemiological, clinical, and experimental studies investigating atrial fibrillation diagnosed after stroke, stroke-induced heart injury, and atrial cardiopathy.
