Biography
Ivan Luptak, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a cardiologist specializing in heart failure and echocardiography at Boston Medical Center. Since joining the faculty in 2014, he has built a translational research program focused on cardiac metabolism and myocardial energetics. His laboratory uses advanced multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to quantify myocardial energetics and metabolic fluxes in cardiovascular disease. His work aims to identify therapies that improve cardiac function while preserving energetic efficiency and to translate these approaches into clinical practice. He is PI on NIH-funded research, serves on NIH study sections, and has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. He enjoys skiing and hiking and is fluent in Slovak, Czech, and English.
