Professor David L Hare is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, subsequently undertaking post-graduate studies at the University of Melbourne and Guy’s Hospital, London. He has been the Coordinator of Cardiovascular Research for the University of Melbourne. Currently he is a Clinical Cardiologist at Austin Health, including roles as Director of Secondary Prevention and Heart Failure Programmes, and Director of Research in the Department of Cardiology. He interested in psychosocial aspects of CVD, having also qualified in Psychiatry in addition to Cardiology. His interest in the prevention of cardiovascular disease included 7 years as the Medical Director of the National Heart Foundation of Australia (Vic Div). In 2020 he was a nominee for Australian of the Year. His clinical and laboratory research interests include clinical trials, heart failure, atherosclerosis, genomic medicine, cardiac surgery, exercise, diabetes, CV aspects of renal disease and clinical governance.
