Biography
Nicolle Kränkel has graduated in biotechnology in Jena, Germany, followed by a biological doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) at the University of Leipzig, Germany. She then pursued a postdoctoral stay in Bristol, UK, followed by a research stay at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Kränkel is currently heading the translational cardiovascular research lab at the department of cardiology at the Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin (Berlin, Germany) and is a scientific coordinator at the Friede Springer Cardiovascular Prevention Center @ Charité. Her research interest is with molecular mechanisms mediating individual cardiovascular risk and response to therapy, especially exercise. A specific focus is interactions between the immune system and cellular energy metabolism in other organs, such as the heart and the skeletal muscle.
