Ângela Amaro-Leal, Biomedical scientist (2010), joined, in 2011, the Cardiovascular Autonomic Function Lab of the Cardiovascular Center of the University of Lisbon, FMUL. During these ten years, she developed skills in animal experimentation and acquired experience in animal behaviour and cardiology/autonomic nervous system. In September 2020, she completed a doctoral program focused on the study of multiple organ dysfunction induced by the hyperinflammation that characterizes the early stages of bacterial sepsis. Over the past 3 years, she demonstrate that the modulation of the initial stages of inflammation, through different pharmacological interventions in the NFkB signalling pathway, revealing the therapeutic potential of the immunomodulators used, namely Kinase inhibitors. She has particular research interest in the multiorganic alterations of inflammation, autonomic cardiovascular control and in mechanisms of memory regulation and animal learning.
