Biography
Dr Owais Dar is a Consultant Cardiologist at Harefield Hospital and Honorary/Adjunct Reader at King’s College London. His academic career began at Imperial College London, completing an MD(Res) on telemonitoring and early diagnostics in heart failure. His work focuses on improving outcomes across the heart failure continuum, with expertise in transplant medicine, LVAD therapy, cardiogenic shock and innovative diagnostic pathways. As Chief Investigator of SCOPE HF, launched in 2025, he leads one of Europe’s largest heart failure epidemiology programmes, highlighting gaps in diagnosis, optimisation and referral. This drives his commitment to earlier detection, equitable access to advanced therapies and coordinated care pathways. His research spans imaging, haemodynamics, cachexia and equity studies. He advises NICE, NHS England and the British Society for Heart Failure. He aims to bring clinical insight, policy experience and strong educational focus to the HFA Board.
