
Associate Professor Peter Marschang

Biography
Since 2018, Peter Marschang serves as director of the Department of Internal Medicine of the Central Hospital of Bolzano in Italy. Peter earned his MD degree at the Leopold- Franzens University of Innsbruck, Austria in 1990. Following postdoctoral stays at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA and at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, he was appointed as associate professor at the Medical University of Innsbruck. He is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Angiology, Endocrinology and Metabolism and Cardiology. His main scientific interest lies in the pathologies of the vascular system, including atherosclerosis, thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. He has served as principal investigator in several large multicenter trials on venous thromboembolism (Phase Ib – IV) and has successfully obtained competitive research grants. Besides his native language German, he is fluent in English and Italian.
