Dr. Kimon Stamatelopoulos, is cardiologist and Associate Professor of the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and supervisor of the Angiology and Endothelial Pathophysiology Unit and of the Dyslipidemias and Atherosclerosis Unit at the Department of Clinical Therapeutics, Alexandra hospital, Athens, Greece. He is also Visiting Clinical Professor at the Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. His research work focuses on early detection and treatment of arterial hypertension, vascular ageing, subclinical cardiovascular disease in populations at risk and on cardiovascular oncology. His clinical research group develops new biomarkers in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease and on the role of beta-sheet amyloid proteins in the cardiovascular system. Overall, he has >200 publications in PubMed (h-index 45, Google Scholar 8.2021).
