Dr. Sanz-Ruiz earned his MD degree at Valladolid Medical School and completed his Cardiology Fellowship in the Heart Sciences Institute. After a Fellowship in the Texas Heart Institute (Houston) he joined the Cath Lab at Gregorio Marañón Hospital (Madrid, 2006). Received his PhD degree from the University of Valladolid on reperfusion strategies for STEMI. He coordinates all clinical trials with stem cells/gene therapy for CV diseases, being the Secretary and Treasurer of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine. Fields of interest - ischemic heart disease, acute (NSTEMI and STEMI) and chronic (stable and refractory angina); acute and chronic heart failure; interventional cardiology: PCI (all type of procedures, CTO), structural heart interventions (mitral and congenital heart disease), gene/cell delivery platforms, intracoronary imaging techniques (OCT) and mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, ECMO); novel antithrombotic treatments.
