Dr. Jan Václavík, MD, PhD, FESC, is Professor of Medicine, Head of Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at University Hospital Ostrava, Czech Republic. He is a specialist in cardiology and internal medine and has a special interest in arterial hypertension and cardiovascular pharmacotherapy.
Prof. Vaclavik initially undertook clinical sessions at Internal Medicine Deparment at Sternberk Hospital and subsequently at University Hospital Olomouc and Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic. He is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, member of European Society of Hypertension and member of the Committee of the Czech Society of Internal Medicine.
Professor Vaclavik’s main research field is resistant and secondary hypertension. Further research areas involve heart failure, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, antithrombotic therapy, novel laboratory diagnostic methods and assessment of medication adherence.
