Biography
Pim van der Harst is Chair of the Department of Cardiology and full Professor at Utrecht University Medical Center, a world‐renowned interventional cardiologist, and Editor in Chief of the Netherlands Heart Journal. His clinical work focuses on diagnosing and treating heart disease, specializing in percutaneous interventions for obstructive coronary artery disease, acute myocardial infarction, and mechanical support in cardiogenic shock. His translational research harnesses large, complex data sets—from genetics, electronic health records, and imaging—combined with machine learning and cloud computing to improve early detection and understanding of coronary artery disease and heart failure using extensive population‐based cohorts such as PREVEND, LifeLine, and the UK Biobank. Committed to advancing prehospital care through the preHEART studies, he also leads international consortia including EuroHeartPath and MyDigiTwin. Recognized as Medicine Leader 2024 by Research.com.
