Biography
I have been involved in the field of advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and pulmonary vascular disease for the last 20 years. Primarily my clinical endeavors focused on the building of multi disciplinary programs which provide timely, tailored and team-integrated therapies to patients with advanced cardiac and pulmonary vascular disease. Most recently I have also been involved in the development of multidisciplinary programs tasked with the complex delivery of care in acute cardiogenic shock. Research focus in clinical and translational studies have led to the discovery of innovative paradigms including the identification of a metabolic shift in the adaptation of the failing human heart to the utilization of ketones. Our team of investigators believes that these novel paradigms will serve not only to improve outcomes in chronic ambulatory heart failure patients, but may also be extended to bridge the critically ill patient.
