Biography
Dr Hawkins is a clinician-scientist cardiologist and Associate Professor at UBC with appointment in heart failure and electrophysiology. He is Medical Lead for Quality and Research at Cardiac Services BC, Head of Research for the UBC Division of Cardiology, and Physician Lead for the Vancouver Coastal Health Regional Heart Failure Program. His research encompasses clinical trials, health service delivery, and comorbidities in patients with HF, arrhythmia, and pulmonary disease. He has authored or co-authored over 150 publications, including in the Lancet, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and European Heart Journal. He is Co-PI for the MAPLE-CHF national heart failure screening trial, the OPTIMAL-AF-HF international trial of ablation strategies in heart failure, the CIHR Accelerating Clinical Trials consortium, and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society MYCOVACC national surveillance study of myocarditis and/or pericarditis following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination.
