Fortunate Mamombe is an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in inherited cardiac conditions with a special interest in aortopathies since 2017. With an MSc in cardiorespiratory nursing and a career beginning in 2003, she developed extensive expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and critical care, including senior roles as charge nurse and practice educator. She specialises in the lifelong management of complex aortic conditions with interests in genetics, thoracic aortic disease, adolescent transition, and preconception counselling. Fortunate leads a nurse-led service delivering surveillance, risk monitoring, counselling and family support. She is a steering group member of the Aortic Nurses Community of Practice and is actively involved in research and publication on thoracic aortopathies. Fluent in English and Shona, currently learning French, she enjoys travelling, swimming, walking, cooking, and reading.
