Federica Piani is a physician-scientist and Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Medical University of Graz, where she leads the Research Unit on Sex and Gender in Disease Pathophysiology. Her research centers on cardiovascular hemodynamics and cardiovascular prevention, with a specific focus on sex and gender differences and female’s cardiovascular health during and after pregnancies complicated by cardiometabolic disorders. She conducts translational cardiovascular research integrating clinical phenotyping with vascular and endothelial biology. At the Division of Physiology and Pathophysiology of the Medical University of Graz she is responsible for the Hemodynamic Unit, a unit equipped with state-of-the-art techniques for the assessment of cardiovascular function (e.g., continuous hemodynamic monitoring, transthoracic echocardiography, ergospirometry, assessment of retinal microvasculature, arterial stiffness, flow-mediated dilation, autonomic function, carotid tracking).
