Biography
Aldo Bonaventura completed Medical School at the University of Pavia (Italy) and post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Genova (Italy). He then completed a PhD Program in Onco-hematology and Clinical and Translational Internal Medicine at the University of Genova (Italy). During this period, he spent two years at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA (USA) under the mentorship of Dr. Antonio Abbate working on a translational project unraveling the pathophysiological basis of acute pericarditis. Through this project, it came out that the NLRP3 inflammasome and IL-1beta are pivotal players in pericarditis and may represent therapeutic targets. In 2020, he came back to Italy and started working as a Medical consultant at the Circolo Hospital in Varese (Italy) following patients with acute and recurrent pericarditis, including patients with post-viral or post-vaccine pericarditis. Aldo Bonaventura speaks Italian, English, and French.
