Doctor Banan Rasool

Dr. Banan Rasool is a physician and cardiovascular researcher and a Fellow in Internal Medicine of the Kurdistan Higher Council for Medical Specialties. She is the founder and chief executive officer of Angasha Cardiovascular Research Organization (ACRO), the first dedicated cardiovascular research organization in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. With a growing record of peer-reviewed publications, her research interests span cardiovascular medicine. She presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in 2023 and received the 2025 Best Young Investigator award in Iraq from the Iraqi Scientific Council of Cardiology. Her subspecialty training includes pulmonary hypertension at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, and sleep medicine at Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Virginia. She speaks Kurdish (native), Arabic, English, and Turkish and is learning Persian. Outside medicine, she enjoys traveling and cooking.
