Biography
Professor of Cardiology at the University of Zurich since 2007. The primary clinical interest is adult cardiovascular disease. The clinical and investigative focus are cardiovascular and preventive medicine, with a particular interest in chronic coronary artery disease and heart disease in women. This includes management and treatment of risk factors such as dyslipidemia, arterial hypertension, chronic renal disease, obesity and diabetes, as well as the non-modifiable risk factors sex and aging. More than 35 years of clinical expertise in menopause as a risk factor and postmenopausal hormone therapy. More than 30 years experience in development and clinical application of endothelin receptor antagonists (ERAs) and endothelin receptor-targeting drugs as therapeutics for chronic diseases and stroke including clinical trials. Elected Member of the Academy of Europe (2017).
