Doctor Ilias Nikolakopoulos

Dr. Ilias Nikolakopoulos graduated in 2017 from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He spent 3 months at Northwell Health, NY working on periprocedural anticoagulation and risk models for thromboprophylaxis in cancer patients, as one of the ten recipients of the “World Hellenic Biomedical Association and Stavros Niarchos Foundation Research Training Program in Clinical & Experimental Medicine”. As of July 2019 he is a Research Scholar at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. At CCAD, he mainly focuses on patients with coronary artery bifurcation lesions, chronic total occlusions and bypass grafts. His research work also involves outcomes after acute myocardial infarction across diverse patient populations, access site selection for cardiac catheterization, radiation safety in the catheterization laboratory, and implementation of novel technologies in healthcare. He plans to pursue a clinical and research career in Cardiology.
