I trained in cardiac surgery in the United Kingdom-Leeds, The Heart Hospital, UCL, Barts Heart Centre, St George's and Hammersmith Hospital before doing an advanced cardiovascular surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester where I trained under Dr Hartzell Schaff and Dr Joseph Dearani in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and under Dr Malakh Shrestha in aortic surgery. My MD research thesis was on cardiopulmonary exercise testing in primary mitral regurgitation. I have continued my research interest in exercise physiology with further work in valvular heart disease, thoracic surgery and transplant surgery. I have an interest in surgical training and have served various trainee representative roles at London Deanery and the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery. In my (very little) spare time I am an amateur art dealer and enjoy cooking.
