Alexandra Kautzky-Willer is Professor of Gender Medicine, head of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism and of the Gender Medicine Unit of the Medical University of Vienna. She has specialized in Internal Medicine, in Endocrinology and Metabolism, and in Geriatrics and Palliative Care. Kautzky-Willer is president of the Austrian Society of Gender-Specific Medicine and Vice President of the Austrian Society of Internal Medicine. Her research interests include women's and men's health, cardiovascular disease, gestational diabetes, fetal programming, overweight, obesity, type 1 diabetes/autoimmunity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, beta cell function, inflammation, adipokines, endothelial dysfunction, and hormonal disorders - in general, and gender-specific aspects in particular.
