Biography
Dr. Vegim Zhaku obtained his MD degree in 2014 from the Faculty of Medicine at the State University of Tetova (SUT). From 2014, he served as Teaching Assistant in Physiology at the Medical Faculty of SUT and completed a PhD in Biomedicine in 2022. Since 2023, he has held the position of Assistant Professor of Physiology and Preclinical Medicine at SUT. He completed specialist training in Cardiology at the University Clinic of Cardiology, Skopje (2019–2025). His clinical and academic work focuses on cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, oxidative stress, cardiovascular remodeling, and autonomic dysfunction. His research is centered on translational and preventive cardiology, with particular emphasis on AI-assisted ECG interpretation, digital cardiovascular risk stratification, and hybrid human–AI clinical decision support systems. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and interdisciplinary cardiovascular research at national and international levels.
