Biography
Sven Plein is Professor of Cardiology and Director of the Advanced Imaging Centre at the University of Leeds and consultant cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He also holds an honorary contract at King's College London. Professor Plein's research focuses on patients at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, such as those with diabetes mellitus and chronic inflammatory disease. His research group investigates disease mechanisms in multi-morbidity and studies the effects of therapies on disease progression and patient outcome using advanced cardiovascular imaging. Professor Plein also has a longstanding interest in education and led international efforts for training and education in his roles as Vice President of EACVI and President of SCMR.
