Biography
José González Costello holds a degree in Medicine at the University of Valladolid, Spain; a Master's degree in Health Sciences Research Methodology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a PhD at the University of Barcelona .He did his cardiology specialist training at Bellvitge University Hospital, Barcelona and a research fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure at Columbia University Medical Center (New York, USA). He is the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Unit at Bellvitge University Hospital, Barcelona and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona. He is past-President of the Spanish Heart Failure Association. He is a clinical researcher in the field of advanced heart failure, focusing on iron deficiency, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, and TTR amyloidosis. He is the author of 189 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has an H-index of 36 with 6,241 citations.
