Steve Wheatcroft is Professor of Cardiometabolic Medicine / Consultant Cardiologist in Leeds, UK. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Birmingham and after general medical posts in the West Midlands, trained in cardiology in the South East of England and Kings College Hospital, London. He completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Science at King’s College, London. After fellowships in coronary intervention in Krakow and Prague, he joined the University of Leeds as an academic cardiologist in 2006. His career in cardiometabolic research has been supported by fellowships from the British Heart Foundation and the European Research Council. Steve leads a translational science research group focused on the effects of insulin resistance on vascular biology. He is Director of Research & Innovation at the School of Medicine. Working at one of the UK’s highest volume heart attack centres, his clinical interests include coronary artery intervention and acute coronary syndromes.
