Biography
Thorsten M. Leucker, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. He directs Basic and Translational Vascular Biology Research within the Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease and leads the Johns Hopkins Cardiovascular Clinical Research Unit. His work focuses on preventive and translational cardiology, with an emphasis on inflammation, lipoprotein(a), and mechanisms of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. His research integrates advanced imaging, including PET, CT, and MRI, with clinical studies to assess vascular inflammation and coronary endothelial function, particularly in people with HIV. He serves on editorial boards and international study groups. He enjoys endurance sports and speaks German and English.
