Dr. Alaa Elghamrawy is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt. He was nominated as the Director of Rheumatic Heart Disease Center in Mahalla (2006-2018) and as a member of the National Committee of RHD in Ministry of Health and Population. Dr. Alaa Elghamrawy is the founder of the National Rheumatic Heart Control Program in Egypt and was the director of the program till the year 2018. He was awarded the WHO 2015 State of Kuwait Prize for Research in Health Promotion for his work in establishing Egypt’s Rheumatic Heart Disease program.
