Biography
Daniel Duerschmied, MD, FESC Director of Cardiology, Angiology, Haemostaseology, and Medical Intensive Care at University Medical Center Mannheim, Heidelberg University since 2021. Founder of the Center for Acute Cardiovascular Care Mannheim (ZKAM) in 2023. Medical School Ulm, Germany, and Paris, France, 1997-2004. MD thesis 2004 (summa cum laude, Guido Adler). Since 2004 physician scientist, Cardiology and Angiology I, Heart Center Freiburg – Bad Krozingen, and Medical Intensive Care, Medical Center, University of Freiburg, Germany (Christoph Bode), deputy director 2018-2021. Post-doctoral research fellow, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, 2007-2009 (Denisa Wagner). Focus: interventional cardiology with TAVI and mitral valve repair, intensive care with extracorporeal life support, basic research with vascular biology, clinical trials with IITs, and personnel management with support of young scientists. Languages: German, English, French. Hobbies: Vinyl records, comic books.
