Prof dr. Paul BECKERS, PT PhD EFESC (°09.04.1954 - male) was Head of Physical Therapy of the Department of Cardiology and coordinator of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre at the Antwerp University Hospital Wilrijkstraat 10 in B-2650 Edegem Belgium and is now Emeritus at the University of Antwerp (UA) e-mail: paul.beckers@uantwerpen.be - mobile phone 0479/55 04 32. As physical therapist he has been clinically involved for over 40 years in the physical rehabilitation of patients with Coronary Artery Disease and Chronic Heart Failure. His specialisation is the treatment of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices and of patients before and after heart transplantation. His main focus is on Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and strength training of cardiac patients. He contributed to the design of and actively participated in three large clinical international multicentre trials (SAINTEX-CAD, SMARTEX-HF and OPTIMEX-CLIN) generating 1725 citations on Pubmed and a h-index of 23.
