Biography
Pedro Lopez Ayala holds a medical degree from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and a PhD in clinical research from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Following his medical studies, he completed a master’s degree in Translational Medical Research at Heidelberg University and a one-year training programme in cardiovascular translational research at the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Center (CNIC). In 2019, he relocated to Basel, where he joined the Cardiovascular Research Institute Basel (CRIB) as a research fellow and later as a PhD student. His research focuses on the use of biomarkers and artificial intelligence to improve the early diagnosis of myocardial infarction. He is completing his residency in internal medicine in Basel, while continuing his research activities as a senior fellow at the CRIB. His scientific work has resulted in more than 150 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including BMJ, Nature medicine, Circulation, EHJ and JACC
