Biography
Dr Rebecca Godfrey is a cardiology registrar and cardiomyopathy research fellow whose work centres on heart failure, devices, and inflammatory and infiltrative cardiomyopathies. She began a UHSussex Charity–funded MD in 2025, focusing on opportunistic biopsy, amyloid pathway development, and novel approaches to cardiac sarcoidosis. Her work integrates advanced imaging, targeted tissue diagnosis, and pathway redesign to support timely, patient‑centred care.
Her academic background spans structural heart disease collaborations across Europe and North America, with publications in major journals, before refocusing on cardiomyopathies. She is lead author on the implementation of a regional cardiac sarcoidosis service at RSCH and co‑author of a 2025 review on its overlap with inherited cardiomyopathies. Her MD now consolidates this agenda, aiming to link rapid diagnosis with effective intervention in complex myocardial disease.
In her spare time she enjoys sea swimming.
