Doctor Paul Oliver Vergara

Dr. Paul Oliver Vergara is currently an Adult Cardiology Fellow-in-Training at the Philippine Heart Center, the national referral center for cardiovascular medicine in the Philippines. Paul earned his medical degree from University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (2016), finished his post-graduate Internship (2017), and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital (2021). He is also a diplomate of the Philippine College of Physicians (2021). What Paul loves to do is teach, and hopes to be in medical education someday, always having this quote from St. Thomas Aquinas in mind: "It is better to illuminate than to merely shine." His interests are appreciating literature, listening to jazz, drinking coffee, playing strategy games, and playing sports like basketball, football, and boxing. Certainly, Paul would love to contribute something to the cardiology community on the local and global stage. His work is inspired by his son, Pedro Luis.
