Dr Varian (Frankie) read geography pre-medicine at the University of Cambridge prior to post-graduate medicine at the University of Warwick. Frankie started as an academic clinical fellowship in cardiology in 2020. She has a strong background in mixed methods and is undertaking a PhD funded by the Medical Research Council at the University of Sheffield. Frankie is investigator on a multicentre randomised 2x2 crossover trial using remote technology for the personalisation of therapy in pulmonary arterial hypertension (NCT05825417). Her research interest includes delivering robust health-related quality of life patient-reported outcome measures as clinical trial endpoints. Frankie grew up near the Lake District, England and enjoys spending time outdoors. She completed an Ironman triathlon in 2016 and continues to enjoy running, cycling and bouldering. Frankie is an advocate for sustainability and lives a plant-based lifestyle.
