Philippe Debonnaire (MD, PhD, FESC) graduated as cardiologist at the University of Leuven (Belgium) in 2011 and additionally obtained a Master degree in Sports Medicine. Then he moved to the Netherlands for several years to become a doctoral research fellow at the non invasive cardiac imaging department at Leiden University Medical Hospital (LUMC), supported by an ESC Research Grant. Promoted by Prof Jeroen Bax and co-promoted by Dr Victoria Delgado and Dr. Nina Ajmone Marsan, he obtained a PhD degree in 2016. Since 2013 he joined the staff cardiology department of Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges (Belgium). His clinical and scientific focus remains on cardiac imaging, focusing on (advanced) echocardiographic techniques (3D, strain, stress, TOE) for the diagnosis, management and therapeutic interventional guiding of patients with valvular disease, cardiomyopathies or other structural heart problems. He is BWGNICI president and board member of EACVI HIT and education committee.
