Dr. Virna L. Sales is an American academic cardiovascular physician with extensive education and training in both Germany and the United States, and clinical experience spanning Germany, the U.S., and the U.K. She brings more than 25 years of combined clinical and research experience in cardiology and cardiac surgery, complemented by advanced training in epidemiology, biostatistics, health finance and management, quality improvement, patient safety, outcomes research, public health economics, and medical informatics. Her work bridges preclinical development, clinical trials, and population health research, integrating perspectives from academic medicine, industry, and the U.S. Veterans Affairs system. Dr. Sales’ research focuses on tissue-engineered heart valves, surgical and transcatheter valve therapies, and heart failure management. Dr. Sales is an Elected Fellow of the NY Academy of Medicine & European Society of Cardiology and American College of Cardiology.
