Helena Domínguez was born in Barcelona, Spain and completed her MD education in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, along with research tasks for the last four years, in the Physiology department. Short after graduation Helena Domínguez was appointed as Guest Researcher at the Pathology department in Linköping University Hospital until 1990. To continue her clinical education, Helena Domínguez moved to Denmark, and completed her Cardiology training in the Capital Region. Helena Domínguez established an anti-coagulation clinic i Gentofte Hospital (2007). In 2009-2013 she was Head of Research and Leader of the cardiology ambulatory at Herlev Hospital. Since 2013 Helena Domínguez is Associate Professor in the department of Biomedicine, University of Copenhagen and since 2014, Research Consultant in Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital. The focus of research is a translational approach on inflammation as cross-road of vascular insulin resistance, thrombogenicity and atrial fibrillation.
