Doctor Barbara Farquharson

Barbara is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Stirling. She was awarded a British Heart Foundation NMAHP Career Development Fellowship in 2021. A RGN by background and previous BHF Community Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse, she has over 13 years clinical experience but has worked primarily in research since completing her PhD in 2007. Her research is focused on the behavioural aspects of cardiovascular disease. She has led projects funded by the Chief Scientist Office relating to symptom delay and by the Medical Research Council, Chief Scientist Office aimed at increasing rates of CPR in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Her BHF fellowship project aims to improve rates of CPR amongst those who receive instructions from ambulance staff when they contact 999.
