Biography
Moritz von Scheidt is a clinician scientist and cardiologist at the German Heart Center Munich, Technical University of Munich (TUM). Following research training at UCLA, he established an independent research program focused on the genetic and molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and clonal hematopoiesis (CHIP) in cardiovascular disease. His work integrates clinical cohorts, multi-omics technologies, and AI-driven approaches to identify cardiovascular disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets. A particular focus of his research is understanding how somatic mutations contribute to cardiovascular risk and how CHIP-associated pathways may be translated into novel preventive and therapeutic strategies. He chairs the German CHIP Registry and leads several biobanking initiatives that provide access to deeply phenotyped patient cohorts and human cardiovascular tissues.
