Doctor Christopher Johnson

Vanderbilt University, Nashville (United States of America)

Dr. Johnson is a structural biologist that utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to understand calcium regulatory processes in the heart. Working at the interface of science his research combines structural biology, biophysics and electrophysiology in order to understand how the intra-cellular calcium sensing protein “Calmodulin" transduces changes in calcium concentration. Complex regulatory processes are explored using both structure guided and strategically selected disease associated mutations to parse the individual contributions of specific interactions and understand their contributions to cardiac health and disease.
