Biography
Dr. Polina Danchenko, MD, is a Junior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery in Kyiv, Ukraine. She earned her MD in 2019 and completed a Francis Fontan Fund Fellowship at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in 2022. She is an active member of EACTS, a member of its Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Surgery Task Force, and a former member of its Residents Committee. Her expertise includes cardiomyopathy surgery, mitral and aortic valve reconstruction, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, with a particular focus on hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and septal myectomy. Her clinical and research interests include surgical outcomes in HCM, prevention of sudden cardiac death, arrythmogenic and degenerative mitral valve disease, as well as minimally invasive and robotic cardiac procedures.
