Biography
Ioannis Farmakis, MD, MSc, PhD, is a resident cardiologist and researcher at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Hospital in Munich, Germany, and also serves as a physician research associate at the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) at the University Medical Center Mainz, Germany. He earned his medical degree and a Master’s degree in Medical Research Methodology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Farmakis is actively involved in clinical research, with a major emphasis on pulmonary embolism (including interdisciplinary and interventional management, early discharge strategies, and post-PE follow-up), right ventricular failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and cardiovascular prevention. He has authored or co-authored 87 PubMed-indexed publications (h-index 25).
