Doctor Simon Schlogl

Dr. Simon Schlögl is a medical doctor and a cardiologist in training to become an electrophysiologist. His professional goals are to better understand, diagnose and treat heart rhythm disturbances. In the forefront of his professional interest are the clinical efficacy of ICD therapy and non-invasive risk assessment of sudden cardiac death. Born in Hungary, he developed his interest of ICD and CRT-D therapy under the mentoring of Prof. Béla Merkely and he won as a student several grants and research prizes in the Semmelweis University in Budapest. As a next step, he successfully completed the one of the biggest multicenter controlled ICD trials (EU-CERT ICD) since the landmark ICD trials as a clinical scientist in the Heart Center, University Medical Center, Göttingen on the side of Prof. Markus Zabel. This project been published successfully in both Europe (European Heart Journal) and in the USA (Lancet, Heart Rhythm).
