Biography
The Cardiac Systems Simulation (CardSS) Lab, which I lead at the University of Washington, uses detailed computational simulations of the human heart to cultivate new knowledge about underlying mechanisms of arrhythmias and to develop novel strategies to treat these conditions. We are developing new approaches to identify patients with high future risk of complications (sudden cardiac arrest, stroke, worsening arrhythmia) via simulations conducted in models reconstructed from clinical MRI scans. We are also using computational tools to lower barriers to translation in cardiac regenerative medicine. Finally, we have an over-arching interest in driving technological development to streamline and accelerate the computational modeling process.
