Biography
Athanasios Chalkias is an Asst. Professor of Anesthesiology at the School of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, Greece. His clinical activity and research are dedicated to Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Resuscitation, Perioperative Medicine, and Integrative Physiology. His main area of expertise/interest is the personalized, physiology-guided perioperative management of high-risk and critically ill patients, focusing on the physiological mechanisms, regulatory functions, and abnormal alterations at all biological levels ranging from the whole organism, systems, organs, and tissues to the cellular and molecular level, as well as on their interactions and integration. Prof. Chalkias is a member of the Guidelines Committee of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care and the Treasurer and Chair of the Committee on Shock of the Hellenic Society of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
