Biography
Professor Delibegovic obtained her BSc Honours in Pharmacology at the University of Edinburgh (1999) and PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Dundee (2003; supervisor Prof Dame Patricia Cohen). She did her postdoctoral fellowship, awarded by the American Heart Association, at Harvard Medical School (2003-07) in the laboratory of Prof Benjamin Neel. In 2007, she obtained the 5 year tenure-track RCUK Fellowship at the University of Aberdeen. Since 2007, she was promoted to Senior Research Fellow (2012), Reader (2014) and Professor (2015). She is the Director of Aberdeen Cardiovascular and Diabetes Centre (since 2018) and Dean for Industrial Engagement in Research and Knowledge Transfer (since 2019). She is the inaugural member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) Young Academy of Scotland and sits on Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundation project grants committees and a number of other national committees.
