Doctor Gemma Vilahur

Dr. Vilahur is the Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Area at the Research Institute Sant Pau (Barcelona), President of the European Society for Clinical Investigation, Nucleus member of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology, Vice-Chair of the EU COST Action MetaHEART, Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Spanish Cardiovascular Research Network (CIBERCV). She has authored 250 articles indexed in PubMed (390 publications WoS), including original articles, reviews, and position papers in leading cardiovascular journals (H:56). Her work has been recognised with several awards, including the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award and the ESC Outstanding Achievement Award (CBCS). She has a strong background in translational research and coronary ischaemic disease (pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of myocardial infarction). She holds 4 patents and founded 3 spin-offs.
