Prof. Michael Shechter, born in Israel in 1954, graduated from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1979, doing his residency in internal medicine and cardiology at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel. Since 1991 he is a Senior Cardiologist & Director, Clinical Research Unit at the Leviev Heart Center of that hospital and Professor of Cardiology at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. 1995-8 Prof. Shechter was a SAHF Research Fellow & Research Scientist in the Prevention and Rehabilitation Cardiac Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, LA, CA. In 2016 Prof. Shechter was elected as ESC Nucleus Member WG on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology. Currently Prof. Shechter is Chairman of Israel Heart Society WG on Epidemiology and Cardiovascular Prevention and a Board Member, Israel Medical Association, Society for Research, Prevention and Treatment of Atherosclerosis.
